"If a woman doesn't look like a goddess during labour, then someone isn't treating her right"

Ina May Gaskin

During the COVID 19 pandemic, my birth doula package is slightly different, tailored to each persons situation. Do get in touch for more information

I offer the following as part of my Birth Doula Care Package:

  • Two two hour Birth Preparation Sessions in your third trimester. Please see here for more information on what these sessions are likely to cover. Some people like to add extra sessions as a bolt on, this can be arranged.

  • Once you have made your booking with me, I am available for texts and phone calls (between 9am-5pm) should you need support or to chat through anything during your pregnancy and up until your baby is 6 weeks old.

  • I will be on call 2 weeks before your due date until three weeks after. Should you go into labour prematurely, I of course will do my absolute best to attend your birth if it is outside of this on call window however I cannot guarantee it.

  • When you go into labour I will come and join you, stay by your side until your baby is born and you are settled and ready for me to go. It may be however, that due to Covid19 restrictions at the time, that I would not be allowed in the hospital with you (these restrictions are currently easing up though), however I would support you at your home beforehand and help you to get into a confident and comfortable rhythm with the contractions and help you to stay at home as long as possible. I would join you on your journey to hospital and should I not be able to join inside, I would be available to support via phone until your baby is born and settled. Be it in person on via phone support - my knowledge of the birthing process and the UK medical system can be a resource for you to ask questions along the way while you navigate your birth and the hospital interventions. I can also offer reassurance and instigate/suggest various relaxation and comfort tools. My role would be to support you and your birth choices100%. I am there to support your birth partner to support you. In a natural way that is suited to each woman and birth partner differently. I find myself being there to support emotionally, I also support partners to liaise with the midwives or medical staff and when in person I can support physically - with massage, pressure points, breathing techniques. I offer practical support too - getting the space ready, filling up the birth pool, making cups of tea and snacks, taking photographs and more. It's up to you how you would like my support to look. We would cover this during our birth preparation sessions.

  • One 2 hour postnatal visit a couple of days after your baby is born to see how you are doing, to chat and hear how the birth was for you if there is anything you would like to debrief, I offer support for breastfeeding, self care or baby care, I can also signpost what support and local services are available to you. Again some people like to also bolt on extra postnatal sessions, please be in touch to arrange this.

Please get in touch if you would like to explore this further and see if I would be a good fit for you and your growing family.
